A Note From Victoria
As a young girl my Spanish grandmother, Louisa, was my handcraft inspiration. I would go to bed each night and lay my head on an elaborately crocheted and hand stitched pillow slip with my name embroidered along its sleeve. I learned to crochet from this tender and kind woman I loved so much. My mother, an amazing designer and seamstress, taught me to sew. In my early twenties I became interested in fiber arts. I began spinning, dying, and weaving wool from the sheep my brother-in-law raised in Central California. Handling this beautiful wool inspired me to teach myself to knit. Influenced by these two talented and nurturing woman, I grew to appreciate the beauty and passion that goes into anything that is handcrafted.
Needlework of all varieties has been an integral part of my life for all of my life. Now with grandchildren of my own, I understand the value of passing on these wonderful heirloom crafts to the next generation. As I sit with my grand daughter Abbie, 4 ½ years old, with needles in our hands, I think of those wonderful heartfelt days I spent on my grandmother’s lap while she taught me to crochet.
Opening Seed Stitch Fine Yarn has been a dream come true. I am blessed to be surrounded by kind and talented people, colorful and quality fibers, and a lot of joy and laughter. It has been said to me by many customers that Seed Stitch Fine Yarn is a haven for them to express their love for knitting and crocheting as well as to meet people with the same passion for fiber as they have. Mission accomplished!
I look forward to seeing you in the store,
Victoria
